Colton Marks, a promising young quarterback, is making waves in the football community with his dedication, talent, and passion for the game. A fourth grader at Peoria Traditional School in Peoria, Arizona, Colton has been playing football for nearly three years and has already found his niche as a leader on the field. While his journey began as a wide receiver, it was through the encouragement of his coaches that Colton transitioned to the quarterback position, where he has truly flourished over the past year.
Football quickly became Colton’s favorite sport among the many his parents introduced him to. He loves the camaraderie of working with his teammates and finds great excitement in leading his team, making key plays, and connecting with his receivers for touchdowns. For Colton, football is more than just a game—it’s an opportunity to develop leadership skills, stay calm under pressure, and learn the value of hard work and perseverance.
Colton’s admiration for NFL quarterback Brock Purdy runs deep. He appreciates Purdy’s ability to remain composed under pressure, his strong leadership qualities, and his relentless determination to succeed. Colton finds it especially inspiring that Purdy, also an Arizona native, shares a connection through their mutual quarterback coach, Dan Manucci. This mentorship has been instrumental in shaping Colton’s skills and passion for the position.
Outside of football, Colton is a well-rounded athlete and active kid. He enjoys playing golf, running cross country, and bowling. When he’s not on the field, he values spending quality time with family and friends, whether it’s relaxing, playing games, or enjoying shared hobbies. His commitment to staying active and well-balanced extends into his off-season training, where he focuses on improving his throwing accuracy, reading defenses, and building speed and agility under the guidance of Coach Manucci and Coach Tony Serrano.
Colton’s journey has not been without challenges. Transitioning from flag football to tackle football was initially intimidating, but with determination, practice, and support from his coaches, he overcame his fears and grew to embrace the physical aspects of the game. He also continues to work on staying calm under pressure, a skill he has developed by focusing on the next play and maintaining confidence even when things don’t go as planned.
A standout moment in Colton’s young career came during his time in flag football, where he celebrated two Super Bowl victories with his team. These achievements remain special to him as symbols of teamwork and dedication. He’s eager to create even more memorable moments as he continues to grow as a quarterback.
Colton’s short-term goals include improving his accuracy, learning to read defenses better, and fostering stronger teamwork with his Junior Liberty Lions teammates. In the long term, he aims to enhance his leadership skills, build his strength and speed, and help his team compete at higher levels. Looking ahead, Colton is also excited to attend his first football camp, where he hopes to learn from experienced coaches and connect with fellow players who share his love for the game.
Grateful for the support of his parents, teammates, and coaches, Colton remains grounded and focused on his development both as an athlete and as a person. He advises other young players to enjoy the game, embrace mistakes as opportunities to grow, and always give their best effort. With his passion, work ethic, and positive attitude, Colton Marks is a name to watch in the football world.
