At just 2nd grade, Dex Cromedy from Highland Elementary in Abington, Pennsylvania, is already making waves as a young quarterback with big ambitions. Set to graduate in the Class of 2036, Dex has been playing football for three years, and he has quickly discovered what drives him on the field: the thrill of throwing or running for a touchdown.
For Dex, football isn’t just a game—it’s a lesson in smart decision-making. “Be smart and stay calm and make good decisions,” he says, a philosophy he carries both on and off the field. He draws inspiration from NFL superstar Lamar Jackson, admiring the quarterback’s agility, leadership, and playmaking ability.
Dex’s dedication extends beyond football. He also enjoys basketball and track, which help him stay agile and athletic, complementing his quarterback skills. While this is his first quarterback camp, Dex has clear goals: to improve as a quarterback and to learn how to call plays independently, mastering both the mental and physical aspects of the position.
Consistency in accuracy has been Dex’s biggest challenge, but he approaches it with determination. His training routine is hands-on, often practicing with his dad and brother. “My dad and brother have always helped me. They both push me to be better,” Dex explains. Whether it’s perfecting his throws or practicing stiff arms on Thor’s Helmet, he embraces every opportunity to grow.
Dex knows that success comes through practice and perseverance. “If you want to be good at something, you have to practice,” he says, and he applies this mindset to every workout and training session. Setbacks haven’t slowed him down; instead, he views them as learning opportunities, each one making him stronger and smarter on the field.
One of Dex’s proudest moments so far? Throwing his first long touchdown pass—a milestone that cemented his identity: “I don’t play QB—I AM A QB!”
This December, Dex and his family are flying all the way from the East Coast to the West Coast to attend the 8th Annual SoCal Quarterback Camp on December 20-21 in San Diego, California. There, Dex will showcase his skills, continue developing as a quarterback, and gain valuable experience competing on a national stage. With his work ethic, support system, and passion for the game, Dex Cromedy is a young quarterback to watch for years to come.
