John Currie III knows exactly who to thank.

“My mom and dad are my biggest supports,” the Nashville quarterback said. He also explains how each of them helps. His mom runs his social media and shapes the way people see him. “My image is all her,” he said. His dad handles the training, the motivation, and the day-to-day work that goes into becoming a better quarterback. John is clear about who all of that work is for. “My talent and hard work is all for my dad and mom.”

The Class of 2031 quarterback at Rose Park Math and Science goes by QB Currie. He has been playing football since he was five, and he says his love for the game has only grown since then.

What stands out most about his game is his arm. “I have an arm to just be 13,” John said. He was 13 when he filled out his questionnaire, and he knows arm strength is only part of the job. His training is focused on sharpening his accuracy so the ball goes exactly where he wants it.

That training comes from several places. John works with QB Vision and with Coach Peavey at Ensworth. At home, his dad serves as both parent and coach. “He motivates me to do better and train hard,” John said. “He walks me through every step of life as a coach and a dad. He makes sure everything I need to be successful I have.”

John’s favorite quarterback is Tom Brady. He admires Brady’s arm, his willingness to take on any team, and his drive to succeed. John believes three things matter most for any quarterback who wants that kind of success: practice, consistency, and motivation. None of them are flashy. All of them are things John can control every day.

He is also honest about what he wants from football. His goal is to be noticed and to earn a place at a good school with better opportunities. His biggest challenge ties directly to that goal. He wants people to see his talent and wants to keep “overcoming statistics.” For a 13-year-old, that’s a serious goal, and it shows how much football means to him and his family.

A Family Game Plan
