Quarterback Guillermo Morán Cuesta has steadily become one of the most intriguing young passers to watch in Puebla, Mexico. Representing Jaguares IMEX as an 11th grader in the Class of 2027, Guillermo’s journey into football began in an unexpected way. After spending years in soccer, he found himself searching for a different challenge, and that search led him to the quarterback position eight years ago. The transition was natural—he discovered a sport that demanded discipline, leadership, patience, and the ability to read the game at a high level, traits he would grow to embody as a field general.

What stands out most about Guillermo is how deeply he believes in the process. He approaches preseason training with serious intention, doing everything possible to ensure that the work he puts in shows up on game day. Every rep in the gym, every technique drill, every functional movement session serves a purpose. He trains consistently with a strength routine built to increase power and durability, while quarterback-specific footwork and throwing work sharpen his mechanics. His goal is simple: make sure every moment of preparation is reflected when he steps onto the field.

Guillermo draws inspiration from NFL quarterback Joe Burrow, admiring his patience, leadership, and calm command of the game. Those same qualities appear in Guillermo’s approach to pressure moments. One of his favorite memories came on a Saturday night, playing in the rain against the Comanches. With the game on the line, he dropped back and delivered a perfect 30-yard pass on the final play, sealing an unforgettable win. That moment captured the quarterback he strives to be—steady, composed, and ready when everything is on the line.

His journey has not been without adversity. In life, he once faced hospitalization due to respiratory complications, an experience that shaped his appreciation for perseverance. In football, he has often been underrated by teammates and rivals, but instead of discouraging him, it fueled him. He committed to outworking everyone. The belief of his coach, Francisco Del Real, has remained a crucial part of his confidence and growth, reminding him that someone always sees the effort he puts in.

Off the field, Guillermo enjoys playing flag football, spending time with his family, and finding calm by listening to music and walking around the field before games. He understands that football is a mental game as much as a physical one, and these small routines help him stay centered and focused.

Looking ahead, Guillermo has clear short-term and long-term goals. Over the next six months, he plans to compete in the spring season and earn a second championship title. Over the next year, his priority is to secure a scholarship offer, something he is prepared to chase through dedication and consistent improvement. He continues learning new ways of seeing and understanding the game, always striving to elevate his football IQ. In December, Guillermo will take the next step in his development by joining the nationally recognized 8th Annual SoCal QB Camp in San Diego, CA on December 20–21, where he will train alongside some of the top quarterbacks in the region.

Through every experience, Guillermo has embraced the importance of enjoying the process. Whether in practice or under stadium lights, he recognizes that each moment—good or challenging—carries a lesson. His mindset, work ethic, and resilience position him as a quarterback with genuine promise and a future worth watching closely.
