Trevor Golightly, quarterback for Edgewood High School in Edgewood, Texas, has been all in on football since he first picked up a ball in third grade. Now a standout in the Class of 2027, Trevor has embraced every challenge that’s come with leading a team from under center — and he’s nowhere close to slowing down.
What draws Trevor to the quarterback position isn’t just the X’s and O’s — it’s the leadership, responsibility, and energy that come with it. For him, every snap is an opportunity to set the tone for his team and make something happen. The pressure of the position, rather than being a burden, fuels his competitive drive and sharpens his focus.

In Trevor’s eyes, a great quarterback needs more than just a strong arm. It’s about poise under pressure, sharp decision-making, and leadership. Being able to stay calm in the middle of chaos, staying coachable, and keeping a relentless hunger to improve are non-negotiables. He also understands the importance of those around him — noting that great wide receivers need precision, timing, toughness, and the relentless attitude to go make a play, no matter the situation.
Among NFL quarterbacks, Trevor looks up to Joe Burrow the most. He admires Burrow’s calm under pressure, his competitive edge, and the way he plays the game with both intelligence and swagger. Burrow’s grit and precision inspire Trevor to attack every practice and game with the same mentality.

Off the field, Trevor enjoys fishing, working out, and hanging out with friends. A true student of the game, he also loves breaking down film from college and NFL games, constantly sharpening his football IQ. He’s attended several camps over the years, where he’s thrived on competing against top talent, learning from seasoned coaches, and pushing himself in new environments.
Short-term, Trevor’s goals include refining his mechanics, elevating his leadership, and helping his team succeed at an even higher level. Long-term, he’s eyeing Division I offers and working to prove he’s one of the premier quarterbacks in the 2027 class.

One of his biggest challenges came early: stepping up to start varsity as a freshman. The transition required earning respect quickly and adjusting to the speed of the high school game. Trevor overcame it through relentless work, humility, and preparation — traits that continue to drive him.
His pregame routine is all about mental preparation and focus. The night before a game, Trevor visualizes success and reviews the playbook. On game day, he locks in with music, warms up dynamically, and throws routes with his teammates. No major superstitions — it’s all business when it’s time to play.
Trevor credits his offensive coordinator, Coach Seale, as one of his most influential mentors. Coach Seale believed in him early on and continues to push him to meet a high standard both on and off the field.
His advice to younger athletes is simple but powerful: put in the work when no one’s watching, never skip the fundamentals, be coachable, stay humble, and enjoy the journey — because football will challenge you, and that’s where true growth happens.
Through the inevitable ups and downs, Trevor has remained resilient. Mistakes and tough games have only sharpened his resolve to get better every day. His offseason grind includes year-round footwork and mechanics training, strength and speed work, consistent throwing sessions with his receivers, and a steady presence in the weight room.
One of Trevor’s favorite memories came during a game when he rolled right under pressure and launched a 55-yard cross-field touchdown strike to his 6’4″ receiver, Tony Smith. Moments like that fuel his passion for the game and remind him why he puts in the work.
Locked in on his goals and grateful for every opportunity, Trevor Golightly is proud to represent Edgewood High School and is determined to keep making a name for himself every time he steps on the field. Class of 2027 — remember the name.
